About Us
Marine Tiger Technologies was founded in 2010 by Marcia S. Shapiro. While leading technology projects for transportation agencies first for Spear Technologies and later for CH2M Hill, Marcia struggled to find women-owned businesses to serve as subconsultants. Recognizing the growing importance of technology for solving business and operational problems, Marcia established Marine Tiger Technologies and became certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and a Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). Since then, we have completed more than 80 projects for public sector clients.
Where does the name come from?
The SS Marine Tiger was an Army troop ship built by the United States Maritime Commission during World War II. It sailed from Germany to the United States in 1947 and among its passengers were Helen and Louis Shapiro, Marcia’s parents. In emigrating from war-torn Europe to the United States, the Shapiros demonstrated the initiative, resourcefulness and risk-taking that are our firm’s core values. Our name, Marine Tiger Technologies, honors this heritage.
